This year 2020, has been no less than a rollercoaster ride. With many highs and lows, the year has been proven to be a tough one for most people. While everyone is trying to try new recipes, cakes, learn new languages, dance, and work from home everything has shifted online due to one reason: isolation. It is very important to protect oneself but working is also important because of financial reasons, for the sake of mental stability, and many more.

Coming to one the major element that exists in our lives which is music. What happens to music when we can’t get together anymore? Many of the forms in which we interact have been moved to online transactions in person. Can music make this transition to a virtual link? Music allows us to communicate with our faith, and with each other, of course.

It’s the 21st century where we have applications that help us to make music online with instruments wherever we are! They have different online music mixer tools that allow you to experiment as much as you want to.

It is said music has a great effect on many aspects of us. What are those aspects? Keep on reading to find out:

  • Music for the brain:

Did you know that your brain, much like your muscles, gets stronger the more you exercise it? That’s why people tend to go to the gym, do cardio and play music, experiment with new ones.   This road down to modifying the brain through our experiences and what we do something new  is called neural plasticity, the ability of the nervous system to change itself.

  • Social+emotional:

The ones who play music or even introduce us to new ones take our imaginations and feelings to some other level. Playing music together will boost socio-emotional awareness, which is the capacity to constructively recognize, control, and convey feelings. A clear example of this is that very young kids are more likely to engage favorably with individuals with whom they play music.

  • Expressing ourselves:

Music is also a means of communicating our identity: the music that we play, or even listen to, can be a way of telling the world about who we are, our peers, our parents, and our friends. Singers also hold a significant role in society in societies that do not use writing, so they memorize important things like history and family relationships.

  • Auditory: After musical preparation, the auditory system processes sound more efficiently. People are able to perceive smaller frequency differences in context to a number of waves per second which makes it easier to both hear speech and music.

  • Motor: Brain sections that regulate muscles connected to the instrument and parts of the body (such as fingers, mouth, etc are increasing in size. In these regions, more neurons in the brain are dedicated to fine-tuning muscle activity.

  • Connection of music+people online:

In the history of music education, this is an outstanding opportunity to learn how to play an instrument online. Online, starting with YouTube, there are vast music lesson tools available.

Online, you can also start a band. You may be like me, a musician who because of social distance, is displaced and without individuals to play with. You don’t have to be by yourself.

COVID-19 forced music teachers to try music online. The best way is to try the music applications online which allows you to make music online with instruments.
